MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
FOR THE CONSTITUTION OF
A EUROPEAN ALLIANCE OF LOCAL/TERRITORIAL NETWORKS FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

The willingness and determination to establish a European Alliance of Local/Territorial Networks for International Cooperation, with the purpose of developing common strategies – within the capabilities and skills of each entity – for the promotion and implementation of the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in the framework the new the 2030 Agenda.
The European Alliance of Local/Territorial Networks for International Cooperation pursues the following main objectives:
- To foster the dialogue and the mutual learning among European territorial cooperation networks through the exchanging of experiences, good practices and success methodologies for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with the aim of increasing the effectiveness and sustainability of the cooperation interventions;
- To enhance the model of territorial articulation and cooperation for development and international cooperation tested inside the European network; strengthen the already established territorial networks and the collaboration among them; promote the launch of similar experiences in other European territories and in partner countries;
- To start a dialogue with the European Commission and the other international bodies involved in cooperation with the aim of identify and, possibly, develop common initiatives in synergy with the commitments of the European Union and of the international community for the new Sustainable Development Goals.
In this framework, FAMSI, FELCODE, FELCOS Umbria, FPMCI, RICD, RETECO, Fondo Galego y LBSNN state their willingness and determination to establish a cooperative and joint work relation, with a long-term vision, which will actively foster the achievement of the objectives established by the European Alliance of Local/Territorial Networks for International Cooperation, through a mutual collaboration between the signing parts, in order to foster dialogue and mutual learning among the European territorial cooperation networks for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, the improving of the efficacy and sustainability of cooperation actions and their territorial articulation.
The signing and promoting parts of the European Alliance of Local/Territorial Networks for International Cooperation commit themselves to formalise a European Alliance through the approval of its Statutes and the establishment of its management bodies within six months since the signature of this document.
Additionally, the signing parts reaffirm their willingness of enlarging the network to other municipal funds, which share the same vision and objectives.
The parts recognise and confirm the representation of the signing organisations and sign this Memorandum of Understanding in the place and date issued.
